Minot Police Investigating Murder Case

A Minot man has been charged with the murder of a local woman at a Minot home It started about 3 30 this morning when police were called to 419 2nd Avenue Northwest Officers discovered the body of 28-year old Jennifer Erickson of Parshall Det Bob Barnard Minot Police Police officers determined upon entering the residence that it was a homicide based on information they gathered at the scene immediately These two people did have a relationship previously so they were known to each other Police arrested 42-year old Jay Washek on a charge of class-double-A murder soon after He was also a resident of that apartment and had a prior relationship with Erickson Police wouldn t comment on how Erickson was killed or how they decided to arrest Washek That information will be revealed tomorrow when Washek makes his initial appearance in Northwest District Court He s being held at the Ward County Jail right now Class double-A murder carries a maximum penalty of life in prison
